They Flap discs are abrasive tools composed of multiple layers of abrasive material (lamellae) arranged radially on a disc-shaped backing. are primarily used for processing metals such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, but also wood and plastics. They are used for grinding welds, removing rust, paint, and burrs, smoothing surfaces, preparing materials for painting, and shaping contour edges. To ensure safe operation, wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses or a face shield, a dust mask (preferably with a P2/P3 filter), work gloves, hearing protection, and abrasion- and heat-resistant workwear. Before starting work, ensure that the grinding wheel is undamaged, free of cracks or delamination, and is mounted on appropriate, approved accessories. Use a grinder with a disc guard and do not exceed the manufacturer's maximum speed (RPM). Flap discs should be used for frontal grinding – they should not be used for side grinding unless their design allows it. The work area should be well ventilated and uncluttered, and the presence of bystanders should be limited. It is advisable to use dust extraction or dust collection systems, especially when processing materials that produce fine, harmful dust.
